Jazz violinist Wei-Jun Huang graduated from the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels with a Master of Arts in Music – Jazz Performance. There, he studied jazz with saxophonist Jeroen Van Herzeele and clarinetist John Ruocco.
Wei-Jun is the lead violinist in a Golden Melody Award-winning jazz group Orbit Folks. He worked as an arranger and string section leader for pop-star Yoga Lin’s world tour. Wei-Jun’s performance experience includes: Jarasum Jazz Festival (Korea), Shanghai Jazz Festival (China), Nanjing Jazz Festival (China), Summer Jazz Festival (Taiwan), Taichung Jazz Festival (Taiwan) and North Mountain World Music Festival (China).
In 2014, Wei-Jun founded the jazz string quartet “INTERESTRING”. The following year, the group’s first album, Interestring, was nominated for Taiwan’s Golden Melody Award in four categories, and won the Golden Indie Music Award for “Best Jazz Album”.
Born in Changhua, Taiwan, Wei-Hsin Liu has always had an affinity for music as a child. She honed her skills during her 7-year education in music at the Tainan National University of the Arts, with a major in violin and a minor in piano.
She attended multiple competitions during college, and was awarded the first place for violin solo (group A) at the Asia Pacific Cup College Music Competition. She has participated in several performances and music camps, both at home and abroad, such as with the Asian Youth Orchestra and Chimei Philharmonic Orchestra. Notable performances include the Festival Musique en Ré in France (2008) and the first concert in Taiwan of renowned French violinist Laurent Korcia (2012). In recent years she has developed a penchant for diverse music genres while participating in various jazz music performances and production, establishing herself as one of the most flourishing violinists in Taiwan.
Born in Hualien, Taiwan as a mixed-race person between indigenous tribes Amis and Payuan, cellist Chun-Lin Yeh has been exposed to classical music since he was little. He was admitted to the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts at the age of 11, with a major in cello. During school he attended multiple music competitions and often received honorary recognitions. At the same time he learned the piano, percussion, tambourine, djembe, and bass during and after school. It was also around this time that he fell in love with jazz.
He continued to participate in different music performances after he graduated, such as at the National Concert Hall and Zhonghua Chinese Orchestra. Notable performances include bassist for the Tale of the White Serpent at the City Stage, Taipei (2007), percussionist for the Taiwu Ancient Ballads Troupe (2012), Day Dreamer+ with Dance Works in New York (2012), touring with Taiwanese leading jazz band Sizhukong in Macau, Hong Kong, Nanjing, and Singapore (2013), as well as active collaboration with Sheng-Xiang & Band, indigenous singers Suming and Sangpuy.
Born in Tainan, Taiwan, Ti-Chi Yeh received a bachelor’s degree in music from the National Taipei University of Education. In 2004 she toured Europe with the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra to the Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music, Bydgoszcz Music Festival, Krakow Music Festival, Budapest Music Festival, and Prague Spring International Music Festival.
She was exposed to jazz after she graduated from college, and received a scholarship admission to jazz violin at the Berklee College of Music in 2011.
At the same time she began to play for pop music concerts and has performed at numerous music festivals and award ceremonies. She has also participated in music production for pop music, film scores, and commercial tracks, straddling an interdisciplinary array of music genres.
